Rusting in peace

Post by Shoey on Mon 05 Jan 2009, 7:51 pm

Here is my dumped cars diorama, still a few things to go before its finished.
one more coat of resin for the creek, some more grass and shrubs and of course more rusty stuff
just laying around.

The wooden base is 500mm x 300 in size.
the foam was shaped with a lighter then car bog was added for detail

I used a router to dig the creek bed
Each rock was glued into place. I was gettin sick of doin that.

the Fairlane is not finished yet, so keep a check on the Showroom for its progress.

Brilliant as always Shoey. One thing - why is it on most car wrecks, the boot lid is always sprung open? Do guys want the lid locks or what?

Looking forward to the final outcome.

Possibly. Also they jack and spare wheel would be taken.
And maybe the Dingos had opened them to get at the bodies...

All finished now.. finally got it done Friday night before the show.
I decided to go with the HT Kingswood instead of the Fairlane, thinking it would be rare to find one like this.
it managed to pick up best Diorama, peoples choice and best of show.

Congratulations Shoey - well deserved.

Frank Morgan from ModelArt Australia magazine would very much like to do a story on this one. Is that possible? We'd love to see this in print.

Cheers,

A+

Thanks for your kind comments guys, Head is starting to swell again!!!
AshB - The water in the diorama is Polyester resin. I get mine from P.J. Evans in Quay ST. you have to build it up in layers because it shrinks a bit in the middle creating an uneven surface. Cheers
