Restoring a road boss.

Post by scummy on Sun 20 Jun 2010, 7:09 pm

G,day , ive been doing this one for a number of years now . I got it off ebay already built and it was painted in tnt colours .It was then pulled apart and now is being built back up .
I cut off the spicer gearbox and replaced it with a auslowe roadranger , changed the steering to right hand drive , also put a auslowe rhd dash in it .
The front spiders were made by cutting the bud wheel and inserting the spider inside the bud rim so we can still run the larger tyres .
Im going to leave the longer bonnet on as a couple of people tell me there was a couple of american bonneted ones runnin around .
Its goin to be painted in the tnt colours and will run the roof deflector with company stickers like the old days .

Well it's been along time between drinks but there has been a little progress .
The fuel tanks have been painted and mounted to the chassis with chrome straps , the steps have also been put together and mounted on the tanks .On the passengers side the battery box has been painted and mounted in between the steer axle and the fuel tank . The fuel tanks are from the GMC coe as they look bulkier than the tanks that come with the boss , and the battery box came off a coe kenworth .

I've also splashed the first coat of white on the cab and bonnett which will be the top half of the two tone paint job .

That's the plan. Flossie has gotten back into growing African Violets since last April and so is as keen to get back to Tumut for the Violet farm there as I am for the model NNL. And if there are a couple of good looking guys around like last time then my daughter will be interested too!

When I was a junior member of the Model Truck Association of NSW I built my first SAR,it was done as a TNT rig I remember I had to cut out the logo from a couple of truckin life mags at the time.the model is long gone now unfortunatly but I would like to do another after the Mack is done.
