Top Gear - jeremy's Pando Limo

Post by aussie muscle on Fri 24 Jun 2011, 5:23 pm

i am building Jeremy's Fiat Panda Limo from the "Top Gear Cheap Limo Challenge" Series 9 Episode 6. the challenge is to make a limo out of a cheap everyday car. Hammond used a MG. May combined a Saab and Alfa, and jeremy stretched a very humble Fiat Panda to excessive length. so much so he had to shorten it to the maximum allowed length of 120 feet, and even then, it broke in half.

here's what i'm building

the base of this model in 1/25 scale will be a pair of diecast first gen panda.

i bought two blue pandas. (ignore the silver one). i need the second one to provide a third axle.

Disassembly
First step is to break down the car ready for modification.

Modifications
next is to make it into two half car. This is done with a dremel and a cut off wheel.

the plan is to build a middle section out of styrene

i used the existing floor

and built walls around it

then a roof section

next will be to join it all up properly. i might also build an engine to put in it, instead of the flat panel it has.

Bloody marvellous work there so far. This will really be something special when finished. It's great to see how you gradually build it up into the finished model. Thanks for sharing.

Looks pretty sweet so far. I built a 1:18 scale hummer limo. I used aluminum for the sides though, and metal bonded it together.
Was the styrene hard to work with for this?

Bloody heck how would that get around any street corner, and where does he park it? Looks like it should be on a railway track. Laughing

Looking good so far - I am in awe of your work.

keep us posted mate.

Finished the monstrosity. the tape replicates Jeremy's repair after he found it was too long to register, so he cut a few feet out of it. it came back to bite him later when it broke in half.
