Nice , so smooth n clean ,looks good with no vinyl top , have you seen it just after the top is removed , there are blanks to make the Mustang stlye 1/4 windows ,an tact welded on, they were on mine with about 4 spot welds, then the padded foam (100%effective rust maker)an vinyl goes on , l was shocked when the top was removed, looked rough (very on mine) , completely unlike the rest of the car ,Solid as a rock
Ford Magnifico
also mine was a 1976 an carried options like ,dipper switch on the floor , P/Window swicths late sltye ,steering colum XA, best of all the 351 did not come up on any register as a 351 ,just a V8 , so l managed to drive it on my Powerless P-plates Laughing

The padded vinyl roof was a real bodge from the factory to disguise poor fitting body work, if ya reckon the coupe was bad, you should see the 4 door version. It has a join in the roof above the front seats and a fibreglass panel holding a ute rear window to give it a smaller back window. the padding was to make it look plush and even when new the vinyl was lifting away from the trims ( I have a 1975 WHEELS magazine that shows it)
they all (LTD's & Landau's) had dipper switches on the floor and XA columns (the covered lights could not be used to flash as in XB and on which had the dipper and horn on the blinker lever) and the best looking instrument panel ever
The Landau coupe still uses standard coupe rear side windows

I am at the start of converting a 1:18 diecast XA coupe into a replica of my Landau I have a few of the harder to do bits thought out - will see if it works over the next few weeks.......

Yep,
would have been ashock when you removed the vinyl top, quick way for Ford to make another model and keep the price reasonable. I am not a Ford person, but I do like to see rare classics saved form a worse fate. I believe models 56 or armco models is planning to do one in 1/43rd. Biantie/Autoart did a 1/43rd set with the Mad Max car and the landau. Although as you would guess not exactly stock. Although not sure on that part.
Look forward to seeing the conversion. you will need to find 1/18th 67/68 Cougar for the front grille. Cant remember who produced it. Could be Ertl American muscle?
This would be a start.
Hope this is of help.
cheers
