Brabham /Moss 2SM L34 Torana.

Post by scummy on Mon 12 Sep 2011, 6:01 pm

G,day ,i just got in from visiting my diecast suppiler to verify the price of the said car . SHOCK HORROR Shocked it's gona be dearer than i read in a magazine somewhere .
Car was suppose to have a show case but THEY decided not to do that BUT you get a signed certificate of both , Brabham and Moss for the pricely sum of between $300.00 and $400.00 Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've cancelled mine on the spot , this car is not that special to warrant this price . Yer i was going to get it because of the radio station sponsor decal but i'm afraid that biante is out pricing it's self in these hard times just like the resin garbage they tried to put out a little while ago .
I been buying this stuff for a long while now and have always brought biante but they getting a lot outa hand , love to have it but SORRY . Evil or Very Mad

I have to agree that local diecast model prices have gotten out of hand. What happened to the 1:18 scale models that were around the $100 mark? Haven't they heard times are tough?

The Moss/Brabham combo in the 1976 James Hardie 1000 was a good publicity move and a once only affair, but that doesn't justify a $300 plus price tag. Biante and Classic Carlectables are catering to an elite market only now. They have left their bread and butter supporters for dead.

When will they ever learn???

Geez , i hope that car you've shown is the prototype . Looks rough as guts to me , the supplier i buy from was only saying a couple of months ago that ALOT of her diecast fellas have bowed out as it's gotten stupid with the prices . I think the biante people have been off the rails for awhile now , so we will have to see what the second hand market brings up . I've also found some great bargains in the pawn brockers but that just means some poor bugger has hit rock bottom .

The whole modeling experience is a rip off I recon. I would love to do diecast but my wallet needs to be hit with a defibrillator every time I even look at one.

Resin is white gold to the manufacturers too but I love modeling and will wear the cost . I wonder how many other people would get into the hobby if it was cheaper. scratch

I should point out that is a pic of the 1:43 scale diecast model that sells for $90. The 1:18 scale version is still in production stage (no samples yet). I'm sure it will be more refined and better detailed, but at $300 - bummer!

Is this car avaliable in 1/43rd kit form? or where can I get my hands on one of the ready built ones to the same scale?

This model is still on the waiting list Sean. All Biante say is it's approved for development. Look here: http://www.biante.com.au/product_24356.htm

They do have other 1:43 scale Torana models available on the same site.

Thanks Terry it's a Brabham driven car hence why I really want it! Apart from that Toranas don't appeal to me, I'm collecting anything that the great man drove in 1/43rd scale . I'll keep a close Eye on this one Thanks.

i'm sure they've done the numbers. EG: maybe they loose 25% of their customers but they are gaining 28% more per model, they end up with a net gain.

I don't know about great man driving it, it didn't look real flash after the start when he screwed up and got nailed by the Dolomite in the rear.

Waste of a A9X Torana although it was at the Bathurst museum last time I was there.
