Hadfield must have some very influential friends at VicRoads. I would think it unlikely that you or I could get something like that registered in Victoria.

I also doubt it corners too well. Laughing

I'd love to see the dyno sheets for that mate, I'd have to be a world record for a N/A 1.6 litre. And mate 600ft/lb of torque is Big Block country so forgive me for saying it but I think the chances of your 4 pot making 500+ ft/lb are about as good as Rod Hadfield's 55 Chev being registered legally. Both are just to far fetched for me to believe.

I agree that Rod's 55 is impressive but as for being the fastest, mmm, me thinks not. Although I would like to see it wound out on the salt flats, can you imagine the sound from that sucker at full noise?

Yeah true, It has No Acceleration but an absolute mountain load of torque Like Tubman and checkmate said it would be good on the salt not quarter mile

Imagine it. And then multiply it by 4.
That's what it was like when the RAF Battle of Britain Flight Avro Lancaster did zero feet flypasts over your head at airshows. From behind (you were busy watching the Hurricanes & Spitfires over the runway and didn't know it was coming).
Not as loud as when the RAAF FA18 does it, but a much better sound.

It is.
The bloody RAAF Hornet got me one year at Phiilip Island Moto GP. I was walking back from the toilets when BANGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRWWWWOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH something shot over my head from behind. I instinctively ducked, crouched and cowered and felt a real tool until I looked up and saw quite a few people doing the same.
It's how they start the display. They sneak up unannounced and come in fast at wavetop height from the Bass Straight just lifting enough to clear the trees.
We know now though and always check the program for the time of the display and try to spot them coming in.

If a full weight VF/VG Valiant that's road legal will pull an 8 second quarter mile - I'd believe this Cobra to pull below 7.5 as long as it didn't spin the whole way down the quarter.

That Valiant being WAR440.

Massive rear tyres it might. lol.

But if WAR440 can do eights with the skinny tyres it runs, and being heavier than the cobra.

Who knows.

Either way.
If It does run a 7, I'd like to be there to see it.

put a Hemi in it and a lead block up it's butt and it'd run 8's easy. :-P

Here's a heavy EH that runs 7's.

We all know a HR weighs more.
Admittedly it's turbo.
But it also has smaller tyres, and loves sevens all day long.

HR Holdens weigh bugger all mate, narrower tyres yes, but they're slicks. The HR's chassis is set up for traction and drag racing.
The Cobra's isn't, it's designed to go fast and turn.
Apples and oranges dude.

Well - we'll see when it runs the 1/4.

So for now - I reckon that V8 with it's torque mountain could pull the quarter within 8 with slicks on it.

I read this entire thread and when I had finished, the thing that stuck in my mind was an image inspired by the analogy made by tezza43 about horsepower to weight ratio on page one. Laughing

I'm still waiting to see Boothy's dyno sheets for his 523ft/lb of torque N/A 1.6 litre Datto. Maybe he left the decimal point out, 52.3ft/lb's.
