66 Buick Riviera GS

Post by Antwon on Mon 18 Mar 2013, 11:34 pm

Guys this is an AMT/ERTL 66 Riviera GS I got from The Bodgie a while back.
The kit is boxed as the lowrider version with god awful wheels and shown with graphics decals and shaved badge work.
I decided that as the body is actually a stock version with all badges and door handles I would build something more classy with it.
So far I've added Pegasus style wheels and I have to find a stock style steering wheel as the kit comes with a small chrome chain wheel. This time I tried a different technique with the badges, I put the BMF straight onto the bare plastic and then exposed it as I wet rubbed each coat of paint, just leaving the top of the lettering showing. Also wired the engine and at this stage the first coat of clear needs to be wet rubbed again and polished.

Thanks for looking.
ADJ

Fred, that's right, with the ugly Purple paint job on the box.
I intend to modify the pushie to a more conventional configuration and put it in the shed dio (when I get around to it!).

Very nice build. I do like these old tubs and you have done well with it. I still get a chuckle when I see the 'Fully floating' power steering or alternators on some kits.

Great job.

Funny how those things just hang there isn't it....I figure if I'm going to put in brackets for them, then I should be putting more detail elsewhere, and I'm not one for getting bogged down on a build.
BTW, Found any gold yet Dean?
