No red and yellow reflective plates on the back of the trailer in them days mate . There would have been a great chance the rear trailer mudflaps would have been fruehauf flaps .

Yes it is the wrong dash. I cast the correct dash for the Australian Road Boss. Just keep it in mind if you build another one.

This is such a great project. It's been cool watching it all come together. I 've been wanting to do Desperado in 1/87 for a few years now but so far have only got an undercoat on the cab.
It's also answered some questions I've had such as the colour of the stripes. I always thought they were green & gold but now I know they're silver & gold.
Excellent work on the trailer as well. Can't wait to see it all finished.

Thanks for the comments guys. Have a lot of the little stuff done in Alclad now, just have to clear coat them then they're ready to go. Have done the windows in the sleeper with Tamiya smoke but they need another coat. Will also paint the inside of the sleeper to help with the tinted effect.

"Deaf As"?... I probably wouldn't have the patience to build trucks
and after looking through your building stages of this one,
all I can say is..."Mate, you're a legend"!. Absolutely fantastic work.
Well done!... I'm impressed! twothumbsup

Sleeper ready to go. The top windows are done with Tamiya smoke and the curtain is made from suede that my wife uses in her teddy bears. She'll learn to keep her eyes on her fries! Have put door latches, hand rails and marker lights on.

Ran the hoses? or what ever they are for the air con unit down the back of the cab. Also added a CB and air horn pull cord on the inside of the cab.

Bonnet is done, just have to clear coat the grill and put the lenses in the headlights. Still have to put the black trim around the blinkers.

Cab and sleeper are together and I have started to put the details on the cab. I'll leave the door handles etc off until the cab is on the chassis. Here I think I'll mount the bonnet first and then the cab so hopefully it will all end up square.

The bullet lights are the kit ones resprayed in Alclad. The fit of the lens to the body of the light is poor, some nice after market ones would be nice. The ones on the air con are from the spares box, redone in Alclad and Tamiya clear orange. The airhorns are Auslowe metal ones. Next step will be to mount the air cleaner barrels and set up the cross over pipes etc.

Re: White Road Boss

Post by Deaf as on Sun 07 Sep 2014, 7:23 pm

A 1:25 scale version of Tracey would be the go, finish the truck off nicely but I think the risk of getting it wrong is too great. Any measurements or shapes I get wrong may be misinterpreted as being sexist on my part dunno Obviously that would not be my intention it's just scale shirt buttons and pant legs are hard to reproduce accurately so you'd just leave them off, wouldn't you?
That aside, have the engine pipe to the tee piece for the dual stacks in, bonnet, cab and sleeper are on and have lightly dirtied up under the guards, mudflaps etc. Am going to have a stab at bending my own exhaust stack ends and building mirror brackets and arms. Have the bumper section of the bullbar made but still have to do the uprights. Started the end ones but they're a bit tall now I've got the bonnet on so I think I'll start again rather than try to shorten them and keep the right shape. Getting there slowly.

Calling this one done. Just have a couple of clearance lights to put on the bulbar. For some reason I'm having trouble adding more pictures, I'll try again later. Thanks for your interest and support guys, appreciated.

Had to use a different bug deflector on the bonnet. The one on the real truck appears to be a Kenworth one with the vertical curve. The Road Boss's bonnet is wider and flatter so the KW item had too much down angle to sit low enough on the bonnet. My attempts to make one with the curve were somewhere between awful and abysmal.
