Morries Custom Shop

Post by Morrie on Thu 21 Aug 2014, 5:20 pm

Hi I finaly finished my first Diorame, we i'll call it finished for now.. I just wanted a back drop to take photo's but got a bit carried away. being a painter I definitely had to have a big spray booth, it even fits 1/24 trucks.

Sorry For a lot  of photo's just pretty stoked how it come out.

This is great work Morrie, Aces mate! It's obvious my boys don't work there cause all the tools are away and everything isn't covered in grease. Looking forward to your next diorama.

Fantastic. Some great detail here. I really like the rust on your spray booth iron, your mesh gate and the paint around the lids of some of the paint tins on the shelf. A lot of time has gone in to this.

Thanks for the compliments guy, it's addictive once you start with the details and thinking of more and more things you can do, like the paint cans that took a bit of time.

Yes it's time consuming that's for sure.

I made the fridge myself, just used a block of balsa wood, shaping it only took about 20 minutes. then had to coat the whole thing with a thin layer of putty so I could paint it, the handle looks like a proper one, but its just car door handle off a kit that I had in my p[arts box.

You can buy G scale dolls house ones but there modern fridges and don't look as cool as the old retro ones.

You did a great job on the fridge. I recognise parts from the Fujimi Garage Tools kit and some from Phoenix Toys sets. Another place you can get some 1/24 garage gear is SMBC ( Scale Modelling By Chris ) They make resin parts. I thought it may be one of their fridges. Have a look at their website some time.
Look forward to seeing your next dio.

Re: Morries Custom Shop

I've done a bit more to my Diorama, I went to a model show a couple weekends ago in Newcastle and found a stall for a fella that makes diecast diorama stuff so I bought some new tools, couple of drills. a vice and engine stand with engine parts to add to my tool benches.

I also bought a stack of led lights off ebay, so I scratch built some light fittings and installed lights into my spray boot.
think it makes it look a bit more realist now Very Happy

Some cast heads, crank and pistons.

New back to my bench with new tools, vice and drills, all diecast.
