1960 Pontiac Bonneville

Post by dv8v8 on Thu 22 Jan 2015, 12:10 am

this is Trumpeters 60 Pontiac Bonneville, a somewhat complicated kit wich i have decided to build as a custom adding to the complications, so far the engine is completed its had wiring done and a 6 pack in place of the original carby wich means the bonnet will need some adjusting, chassis and wheels are also completed the wheels are pegasus.

Looking great, got the same kit myself, only fiddled about with it so far.
Never thought the roof line was quite right, cut it off and replaced it with the Revell 60 Impala top.
Looks much better, now have to get the glass to fit properly, all back in its box for the time being. Another project for another day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nose and rear has already been dropped a lil bit, anymore makes for a lot of extra headaches, (as it is the wheels have been narrowed)  its hard to see in these pics but the chassis is so low the exhaust sits pretty close to the ground so any lower means another bit of renegineering, rekon it may look a bit lower when all the chrome is attached.

I reckon red will work well too mate, maybe a darker red though???
And i know what you mean with the lowering, it is hard with wheels that size, and a major job too,
i re checked the pics, the rear looks great, and as you said, once the bumpers are fitted , it should look right.

The Trumpeter roof is too short.

Engine looks great.  Usual comment from me about that sort of wheel on this sort of car. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
Are you going to try to build the PE bonnet hinges?
Be aware insanity lies in that direction...
