Morris J Gasser

Post by Mr Mopar on Sun 01 Feb 2015, 1:14 am

Hey Guys, I saw this kit the other day and had the inspiration to do something a bit different. The body is a Morris J delivery Van done by The Parts Box. This normally comes as a standard van but I just had to turn it into a gasser (as if building a Morris Van isn't strange enough).

The chassis I've used is a left over from a Hemi Under Glass Barracuda. The chassis has had an inch taken out of the length of it and I have had to add a floor pan over the front axle. Other than that it has been a fairly straight forward fit into the body with no need to adjust the track width at all. Just had to trim the floorpan to suit. The only other changes I will/have made from the Cuda underpinnings is the use of skinny tires on the front rims, and I will change the injector hat for something a bit nicer.

Seeing as the HuG was a wheelstander shortening it's chassis is definitely going to require wheelie bars.

Cool.

Hey Guys, made some progress with the Morris and its now ready for paint. It will be 2 tone white/pale yellow. Interior and chassis will also be yellow as I have found the Hemi is lost inside the cavernous body of the Morris. If I did the chassis and interior in a dark colour the engine would disappear. It did cross my mind to fit a truck engine such as a 8V71 but I thought that would just get complicated very quickly so I stuck with the Hemi.

I don't think the 8'71 is the problem Scummy, it's where would you put the fuel tank! rolf

I'd fix it to the roof (inside) directly above the engine - gravity feed!
