How to do Lowrider Paint Jobs and pinstripes

Post by Morrie on Wed 14 Sep 2016, 2:58 pm

I found this cool video on how to do Lowrider paint work, you could also use this method to lay down pinstripes on almost any paint job.

A few tips I will add to this video..

Lay each colour on just enough to cover the previous colour, if you lay it down to thick when you finish your last layer the first coloured stripes will have a big paint edge and will take a lot of clear to look sweet.

Also before you clear, tack rag really well to get any edges off that are sticking straight up or again will take heaps of clear to hide them.

Last tip and prob the most important, prep your body super well, sand with something like 320-400 before a good primer as you don't want the paint to come off after all the hard work when you finally un mask it all.

Have fun, I have gotten new ideas for the half dozen kits I just put aside for Lowrider paint job,, Very Happy

I think the best paint for this would be Automotive base coat.
